COME WITH ME TO BÆRUM • WHERE IS REALLY BÆRUM ? • In these videos where you will have a trip between Oslo Akker Brygge and Bekkestua in Barum. • We take line 12 of the tram and change it from line Solli plass to line 13. • At Bekkestua we walk downtown and look at shops, check prices and more. • Then we take the tram to Lilleker going around and return to Solli plass in Oslo. • You will see the western part of Oslo and enjoying traveling with tram. • Bekkestua is a town in the municipality of Bærum, Norway, with a busy bus terminal and a station on one of Oslo's westbound T-bane lines, Kolsåsbanen. It also has its own library, police station and fire station. It has grown to be the second largest centre of the municipality after Sandvika, with small restaurants and shopping centres. • Nadderud stadion (stadium), the home ground of the Stabæk Fotball association football club is at walking distance from Bekkestua. It was opened in 1961 as a sporting ground for the Nadderud Gymnas (High School). This high school was later demolished to give space to an extended stadium. • The Oslo International School, often referred to as the British Primary School in the Oslo area, is located next to Nadderud stadion. • Bekkestua is a district in Bærum municipality and an important hub and shopping center. • Historically, Bekkestua is part of Stabekk, as the place is built on plots separated from Øvre Stabekk farm (later Ringstabekk after the owner Jens Ring). Today it consists of what were previously called Presterud and Øvre Stabekk. The place name derives from the construction of the Bærumsbanen in 1924, when the stop was placed right next to the old living room after the homestead Bekken. • In the mid-1990s, the site underwent a number of major developments and acquired a small town feel. For this, Bærum municipality received the Housing and Urban Planning Award in 1998. Today there are, among other things, about 90 shops, 10 restaurants, three pharmacies, several medical centers, post office and liquor store. Bekkestua fire station was opened in 1962 and covers the whole of eastern Bærum. Next to the fire station is the main library in Bærum, which was opened in February 1981. The swimming hall Nadderudhallen is a state-of-the-art swimming hall by Bekkestua. • The first bridge over the brook - which now runs in pipes - was probably built for the opening of Kongeveien from Christiania to Bergen in 1793. Today's Bekkestua bridge leads Gamle Ringerikvei over Kolsåsbanen and is decorated with statues depicting the Smågardists (see photo). The statues were donated by local merchants / artisans / farm owners as well as the municipality, the Public Roads Administration and the local Rotary Association, and unveiled in 1998. • The clothing store Fredriksen at Bekkestua in Bærumsveien 210 ( Fredriksen-gården ) was opened at its current address in 1937. Previously, the founders Sigurd and Astrid Fredriksen had run the store at another address on the site. The business is Bekkestua's oldest in uninterrupted operation in the same premises. • Public communication • Bekkestua is an important stop on the Kolsås line and was the last stop for a short period. From 20 August 2007 to 16 February 2009, Bekkestua was again the last stop, this time for the Lilleaker tram. On 17 February, the tram got Lilleaker as a temporary final stop due to upgrade work, but on 1 December 2010, the railway opened to Jar station and on 15 August 2011, the line to Bekkestua stop was opened. [1] Road tunnel with the name Bekkestutunnelen (Rv. 160) under the built-up area opened in 1994. Bekkestua is served by bus lines 131 (Oslo Bus Terminal - Bekkestua), 142 (Bekkestua - Kolsås), 143 (Bærums Verk - Oslo Bus Terminal), 731 (Sandvika - Bekkestua) , 732 (Ila Prison - Sandvika), 733 (Rykkinn - Snarøya). • #norway • #oslo • #bærum • #norge • #scandinavia • #shopping • #shopping_center • #mall • #bekkestua • #lilleaker • #tram • #tramva • #trikk • #bycicle • #riding • #citycenter • #city • #citycentermall
