LEGO train track setup with 350m tracks, big bridges as well as automated switches and an automated train station. #lego #legotrain • Installed rails: • 376 straight rails (32 studs) • 746 straight rails (16 studs) • 350 curves R40 • 112 curves R56 • 192 curves R72 • 64 curves R88 • 32 curves R104 • 64 curves R120 • 64 curves R136 • 54 switches • 47 x-train crossings (2 inputs + 2 outputs) • 2 6-way crossings (3 inputs + 3 outputs) • 1 20-way crossing (10 inputs + 10 outputs, self 3d printed, see    • Growing LEGO Train Crossings | 3D pri...  ) • 376 flexible rails • In total, more than 350 meters of rails for up • to 15 trains. • Additionally, about 28k LEGO pieces have been used for building the bridges, including • 6.4k 2x4 bricks • 5.5k 2x2 bricks • 3.5k 2x2 round bricks • 4k plates (2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 2x14, 2x16, 6x16, 8x16) • 21 of the switches are controlled automatically (3x51515) or powered up hubs (7xTechnic Hub, 2xCity Hub), i. e. trains are detected by infrared/ distance sensors, which causes the switch to change direction randomly. The EV3s change the direction just when detecting an incoming train (rising edge), all other robots wait until the train passed the sensor (and the switch) completely and changes the direction afterwards (falling edge). The powered up hubs are programmed using Pybricks (https://pybricks.com). See https://github.com/Tegowalik/LEGO-Swi... and    • Automated Random LEGO Train Switches ...   for more information. • 3 Mindstorms 31313 are used to create an automated train station which detects incoming trains and leads those to the smallest free platform which is large enough for the train. A showcase video will be released soon. Note that the trains still need to be controlled (and stopped) manually. Only the switches are automated (so trains can't crash into each other). • Multiple trains are using 2 powered up motors (see    • LEGO Powered Up Tutorial | How to pro...   and https://github.com/Tegowalik/Pybricks... for more information). • Most of the non LEGO wagons and rails can be bought here: https://www.bluebrixx.com • Most of the non LEGO rails can be bought here: • https://trixbrix.eu/
