With my wife Dace we continued touring this side of the map and arrived at North Macedonia, a small Balkan country about which little is known. We are going to walk through its streets trying to perceive its way of life to share it with you. • We are in Skopje, a vibrant and cosmopolitan city that offers something for everyone. If you are looking for a different and culturally rich and unknown tourist destination, Skopje is an excellent option. • We invite you to leave your opinions about it in comments. You can also tell us if you prefer us to visit cities, small towns, natural paradises or beaches. In our next videos. • The most important thing you should know about Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, is that it is a city that has been inhabited since ancient times and has been ruled by different empires over the centuries, which is reflected in its architecture and culture. • The swaying anatomies swarm around us. Between static monuments and attractive buildings, Skopje is a true feast for the eyes. • Skopje is located in the center of the Balkans, on the bank of the Vardar River. This cosmopolitan city with a population of approximately 700,000 inhabitants has a particular atmosphere and many things to discover. We are going to mention some of the most important places that you must visit in Skopje. • The Old Bazaar is the historic center of Skopje. It is a maze of narrow streets and shops selling all kinds of products, from souvenirs to spices. • The Stone Bridge is a 15th century bridge that connects the Old Bazaar with the modern city. It is one of the most emblematic symbols of Skopje. • Kale Fortress is a medieval fortress that dominates the city. It offers spectacular views of Skopje. • Macedonia Square is the main square in Skopje. It is surrounded by neoclassical and modern buildings. For our taste, the result is too scenic, as if they were facades built for this purpose. • Other interesting places you can visit in Skopje are The National Museum of Macedonia houses a collection of art and artifacts documenting the history and culture of Macedonia. For its part, the National Theater of Macedonia is one of the most important theaters in the Balkans. It offers a varied program of plays, operas and ballets. • The best time to visit Skopje is during spring or autumn, when the weather is milder. Although you might not expect it, it is usually very hot here in summer. • The official language of Macedonia is Macedonian, but English and other European languages are also spoken. To a greater extent than in other cities in the Balkans, here you will find a city open to tourism and better prepared, which will make your stay easier. • Regarding the economy, the currency of Macedonia is the Macedonian denar. We have found the prices somewhat higher than on our previous visit in 2017, however, North Macedonia is still an affordable country for tourism where you can eat for less than 10 euros and stay, on a double basis, for about 20 euros per person. • As for Macedonian cuisine, this is a mix of Turkish, Greek and Balkan influences. Dairy products, wine and coffee are prominent elements of the country's cuisine, and traditional dishes include stews and soups. • Regarding public transportation, the buses in Skopje are mostly red double deckers as a tribute to London, which gave the city several buses after a devastating earthquake in 1963. You have to buy a bus pass at the kiosks and prove it because it is not possible to buy a ticket on board. • #OpenYourWindowToTheWorld #TravelIsHyperLive • 🌎 Subtitles in Portuguese, Italian, German, French, Russian, Polish and English. • 🔎 I am Gustavo Llusá, Argentine, after traveling for several years through more than 65 countries I settled in Latvia where I married Dace and learned to know another way of life, on the other side of the map. • 👇👇👇 COMMENT AND OPINION
