http://www.ikenoshita.com • About Ikenoshita • Ikenoshita was organized by Kazufumi Nagano et al in January 1996, aspiring after a new vision of synergy of theater and terpsichorean art. We, Ikenoshita, started a series of performances of Shuji Terayamas early works in August 1996 and have worked to reveal unknown phases of Terayamas works. We also developed a plan to perform all the works of Shuji Terayama in March 1999. Until now, weve performed 15 works of Terayama, aiming to uncover the whole truth of the incident Terayama. Our theater of imagination that transforms the stage dynamically caused various sensations, for example, in the performances of Aomori-ken no Semushi Otoko in Aich Prefectural Art Theater and Aohige-ko no Shiro, presented at the spring festival of The Globe Tokyo, etc. In Toga Directors Contest held in August 2006, we performed Inugami, one of Terayamas landmark works, and received the prize of excellent director. Inugami was restaged in Toga Festival in 2007. Further out, we invented new Educating Mad Persons, Terayamas puppet theater work, with Ikenoshitas own way of body expression and performed it in series in 6 cities of 3 countries: in Miryang Theatre Festival and in Seoul in Korea, Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo in Japan and in Shanghai Alice Festival in Shanghai). • In 2008, we started Ikenoshita MISHIMA project to open up new opportunities for performance of Yukio Mishimas works.
