Puirt à Beul, or mouth music , is a style of traditional Scottish music which employs vocals to render rhythmic dance melodies. The melody here is a jig, which is a two-count, triple meter traditional dance. The lyrics are in Gaelic and are characteristically perfunctory, similar to scat singing in jazz. • Performed by Jamie Laval, violin; Megan McConnell, soprano.
