Bohr's Model of the Atom • http://chemin10.com • Niels Bohr's representation of the electronic structure of the atom placed the electrons in orbitals outside the nucleus of varying energies. The further away an electron is from the nucleus, the higher energy it would have. When an electron absorbs energy, it jumps to a higher energy level, known as an excited state. When it loses it energy, it emits that energy in the form of light, an electromagnetic wave.
