In the 1860’s a toll road to enable oxen and horse-drawn supply trains to reach eastern Sierra silver mining towns was built over Ebbett’s Pass. • In the 1930’s the route was paved and it is perhaps at this time that the modern highway route was re-surveyed and the section we explore was abandoned. For those keeping a sharp look-out, a few old cabins and mines can be found along this trail. • Interested in more history of this road?
