The purpose of economic dispatch (ED) is to schedule the committed generating unit outputs as to simultaneously minimize the operating cost and meet the load demand of a power system while satisfying all the equality and inequality constraints. This paper proposes a particle swarm optimization (PSO) method for solving the economic dispatch (ED) problem in power systems. Many nonlinear characteristics of the generator, such as ramp rate limits, prohibited operating zone, and generating limit are considered using the proposed method in practical generator operation. The feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated for two different systems, and it is compared between those 2 cases which are run by hour and run simultaneously using test bus system IEEE 6-unit generators and IEEE 15-unit generators. The experimental results show that the proposed PSO method that run simultaneously was indeed capable of obtaining higher quality solutions efficiently in ED problems. • Proceeding of the paper: https://drive.google.com/file/d/172h6... • Sample code of the project: • https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dX3a... • Dr. Mohd Hafiz Habibuddin • School of Electrical Engineering , • Universiti Teknologi Malaysia • Johor Bahru, Malaysia • [email protected]
