If you have a head for heights you can canoe over the Pontcysyllte aqueduct located in North Wales. It’s over 200 years old it has no safety railing on the canal side to separate you from the 38m drop. • Let us know would you paddle over the highest aqueduct in the world? • 📍 Location - Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Trevor, LL20 7TY • Pontcysyllte aqueduct itself is 300m but an 11 mile stretch of the Llangollen canal is a UNESCO world heritage site so for a good day trip you can paddle that too and experience other features of the canal like tunnels and lifting bridges as well a a second aqueduct (Chirk aqueduct) • 🅿️ Where to park - Pontcysyllte Aqueduct Car Park | Maes Parcio. £3 a day or free for blue badge holders. 2 minute walk from the car park to the canal • 🛶 You can canoe or kayak, take a canal boat or walk over Pontcysyllte aqueduct. You CANNOT stand up paddleboard over the aqueduct. Sit down paddleboarding is kind of a grey area and you might be told get off and walk • because apparently some people sit then stand up halfway across. We were able to but we had kayak paddles even though we were on paddleboards. We also a wheelchair with us (Craig couldn’t physically stand even if he wanted to) so it was more obvious we wouldn’t try to stand up • 🚣🏻♀️ We brought our own paddleboards but we saw loads of people hiring canoes. You can also hire a canal boat • 🦶If you don’t fancy getting on the water you can also walk along the tow path • #pontcysyllteaqueduct #northwales #visitwales #llangollen #llangollencanal #bucketlisttravel #bucketlistadventures #paddleboardingadventures
