Over 50 years ago, a New Orleans family chose to honor this icon of history, and resolved to create the all female “Krewe of Cleopatra”. The Krewe continues to be combine their passion for Mardi Gras and their love for the city of New Orleans every year, creating a unique and sisterhood of family members, friends, locals, and out-of-towners. • Every year since 1972, on the night of first Friday of Carnival Season, the Krewe rolls through the streets of New Orleans, parading with unparalleled spirit and flair, kicking off the city wide celebration in an unforgettable way. • Antiquity remembers Queen Cleopatra for being both the embodiment of grace and femininity.
