Little did we know that we would be able to actually shoot a gun. the M16 here. For myself (Leanne), this will be the first time shooting a gun, was I a little scared... DEFINITELY. • Now, you probably wondering, what are the Cu Chi Tunnels? • Before world war 2, indochina, a land between indonesia and china were controlled by the french. After looksing their power in this region during the war, vietnam managed to gain it's independence. However, due to constant issue's pertaining to the land ownership, Vietnam was split into 2, The north and the south. With the north being a communist state controlled by this man, Ho Chi Min, and the south being anti-communist. • Ho Chi min was supported by the Soviet union in order to diversify communsim through out asia and as the cold war began to intensify, the US sent troops to the south of vietnam in order to put an end to communism in the region. It was at this time, Ho Chi Min decided to send troops to South known as the Viet Cong, A commnist group of soldiers trained to use gorilla tactics during war. • The Viet Cong began to dig tunnels all over the South of Vietnam in order to transport supplies, lay traps and launch suprise attacks in order to defeat the enemy. Over the years, an area called the Cu Chi tunnels increasingly became popular by tourists who wanted to see what these tunnels looked like, and how the gorilla tactics of the Viet Cong were used during battle. • it was due to the popularity of Cu Chi that made us curious. So we decided to hop onto a bus and join a group to and see what Cu Chi is all about and try to understand what made the viet cong so strong and powerful, and see tactics they used to defeat the US in what is know as one of the costliest wars on earth. • We also wanted to take a bus to Dalat and see what that is like as we have not taken a sleeper bus yet in Vietnam • NEW BUDDYMOON MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE!
