In 2022, Switzerland is rated the world’s most expensive country to live in. But just how pricey can things get here!? Well, we're gonna find out this week via a typical grocery-shopping trip in Switzerland: specifically to Migros, the largest Swiss supermarket chain! • Follow me down the isles as I walk you through the prices of things compared to your country...from fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meat, bread, snacks, beauty and toiletries, to baby care! It used to be a jaw-dropping experience whenever we head to the supermarket and realise how costly things are in Switzerland, but overtime we have sought of gotten used to the prices. • Granted, things are abit more costly here, but to provide more local context. you should bear in mind other factors in consideration such as the higher salaries, that majority of products are produced locally and hence incur higher labour costs, rather than imported from low cost countries, as well as the quality of organic meat and poultry produced in a sustainable manner as compared to mass-farming methods. • Nevertheless I still thought it would be a fun idea to re-visit the supermarket with fresh eyes and show you the price differences and cost of living here, so you won't be too shocked personally when you do come to Switzerland on a trip! • Finally, just to highlight that even though this video was filmed at Migros (one of the most frequented supermarket by locals in Switzerland), if you are looking for other cheaper options for groceries, there are definitely other choices such as Denner or Lidl, the main differences is that the items are usually imported and there are lesser organic or fresh selections. • Watch till the end of the video to see how the weekly grocery shopping costs stacks up.
