Midway games at the CNE. I like the sound of this wheel. It's late at night and the season is almost over. Soon it will be a wrap for The Ex. • The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), or The Ex as it is commonly referred to, is an annual summer fair and carnival midway in the city of Toronto. • The EX takes place at the city's fairgrounds which is known as Exhibition Place, located in the Southwest corner of downtown on the shoreline of Lake Ontario, during the last two weeks of August and concludes on Labor Day with the Toronto International Airshow. • The EX hosts a carnival midway, demonstrations, concerts, and various entertainment-based activities during it's duration. • Exhibition Place is 165 square acres and is home to dozens of buildings which host many hundreds of regional and international vendors during the CNE. The property and it's various buildings host indoor events all year long. • The grounds have been home to a stock car race track, as well as two stadiums and one pro hockey arena which have been home to 4 of the city's pro sports teams. • Exhibition Place is the home location of Toronto FC [MLS] and Toronto Argonauts [CFL], these two teams play at BMO Field as primary and secondary tenants. The Coliseum across the street is occupied by The Toronto Marlies, the AAA team of the Toronto Maple Leafs. • The Toronto Blue Jays [MLB] played at Exhibition Stadium from 1977 to 1989, until mid-way through the 1989 baseball season, when they moved into SkyDome downtown. Exhibition Stadium (1977-1999) was razed and replaced with a pro soccer stadium. Exhibition Stadium made use of a 1948 Grandstand which was home to a paved 1/3 mile oval stock car track for 25 years.
