Learning the “No Reload” Knife Throw by KnifeShuriken

You can see it better here in this Thrower's Spotlight of him on EpicBladeTIme's channel: • • Thrower Spotlight on Ryan Moomaw - Ep... • Also, if you are trying this throw, it's important to do the underhand throw first so you don't accidentally stick yourself in the foot. One person has and another almost did!] • The “No Reload” throw is one of my favorite throws, because it combines two aspects that I love to do when knife throwing-- combination and speed. • By removing the part of your throw where you have to move the knife from one hand (or sheath) to another, a consecutive double knife throw becomes very efficient. This required some retraining of my body memory. I'm used to every no-spin throw dealing with a grasp of my last three fingers and thumb, and a push and guide of the index finger. • For the no-reload throw, the grasping, pushing, and guiding of the knife is now done with the thumb and the support of the knife underneath it. (You know you're doing it right, when the 1st knife that leaves your hand sounds like a sword being unsheathed.) • This throw seemed like it would take maybe 30 minutes of practice. Turned out to be around 2 hours, not including the half hour of no spin practice I did before that. The pedometer I wore told me I had walked about 3 miles during those few hours. It felt like a quest in terms of the distractions, ricochets, and numerous fails that occurred during practice. But I am so glad I was able to accomplish my goal.
