-History: • The Don Cossacks are a cossack culture in the south of modern day Russia. Stenka Rasin used to be a Cossack who lead a major Cossack revolt during the late 1600s. Stenka Rasin plundered and sacked many cities. After taking control of Astrakhan and Tsaritsyn (Volgograd) he went even further, thrying to take control of Moscow and overthrow the Russian nobility, wich failed. Stenka is well known in that time period to use the rivers as an advantage. He sailed acorss rivers like the Don and Volga, plundering and sacking towns that had established themselves by these rivers. After taking Asrakhan, the city became a major Cossack stronghold. When the Cossack rebellion was crushed, Stenka was captured and send to moscow, where he was tortured and eventually got quartered. • -The record: • Stenka Rasin und die Fürstin/ Heyn Quartett • Tempo record/ Nr 5019 • -Do you like history?
