We inspected both microphones and found that the circuit board inside the WA 8000 is nearly identical to the Sony c800g, the major difference is the choice of parts used in the WA 8000 including the tube and capsule, all of these parts are an important recipe to the Sony c800g sound and explains the sound differences between WA 8000 and the Sony c800g. Our conclusion is that the more genuine Sony c800g parts added to the WA 8000, the more it sounds just like a real Sony c800g. • The holy grail c800g sound is mainly centered around the type of tube Sony uses, the large main capacitor Sony uses, and the Sony capsule which is a “high quality” K67 capsule copy, none of which come installed inside the stock WA 8000. Now install the original Sony Tube, main capacitor, and a genuine c800g capsule inside a WA 8000 and you will hear something that sounds special in every way.
