One of the most magical sights in England, or indeed anywhere in Britain is the bluebell flower, which for a few short weeks during springtime emerges from the ground to carpet in our ancient undisturbed woodlands in a stunning display of violet-blue flowers. Its delicate bell-shaped flowers hanging from their stems are truly magical sight. Often associated with fairies, they aren't only beautiful to look at but they are a very interesting flowers too, with uses going back thousands of years. Spring is my favourite time of the year. Bluebells usually bloom from mid-April to mid-May, this all varies according to the pattern of spring weather. Bluebell bulbs have roots that contract and pull the bulbs deeper into soil up to 3-5 inches. Because of this they don’t grow so well on the shallow chalky soils prevalent in the South East of England. • Depending on the weather, they can only last for a couple of weeks. These flowers are usually deep violet in colour, they are bell-shaped with six petals. These sweet-smelling flowers droop to one side of the flowering stem. They are rich in pollen and nectar and are pollinated by bumblebees. however, they may be visited by other insects too. honey bees sometimes steal the nectar without pollinating the flower, by biting a little hole at the base of the bell. This is not thought to impact the numbers of pollinating flowers however. • Some bluebell flowers can be white or pink. white flowers that lack the blue pigment and only occur once in around 10,000 flowers ! They are very rare and are known as the albino bluebell. These are a species of decideous woodland they generally bloom before the canopy closes in late spring. This is because the thick foliage limits the growth of other competing flora. Over a fifth of the world POPULATION OF THESE FLOWERS GROW IN THE UK, RELATIVELY RARE IN THE REST OF THE WORLD . The first bubell was believed to have appeared in Britain after the last ice age. • Subscribe for more Beautiful Nature - / @beautifulnature7772 • Playlists: • London Regent's Park: • London Regent's Park • Best Nature: • Best Nature • Wild life Birds: • WILD LIFE AND ADORABLE ANIMALS • Flowes, Roses and Timelpases: • ROSES AND ORCHIDS -FLOWERS • Check out the other Beautiful Nature videos: • Bumble bee's - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHeCD... • Wild Flowers - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3J_PL... • Natural water stream - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMG07... • Sunset - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV2z5... • Natural Birds sining - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj4fT... • Wild deers grazing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-omqi... • Heron by the lake - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvEic... • Birds in Nature - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87GoR... • Hope you enjoyed this video.
