Reheat Regenerative Rankine Cycle is a Rankine cycle with Reheating and Regeneration. Regeneration is a process in which some steam is extracted from the turbine at intermediate pressure. This extracted steam is then used to preheat the feed water and decrease heat input requirements. The device where the feed water is heated by regeneration is called feed water heater (FWH) or regenerator. Feed water heater can be either open or closed. In open feed water heater, there is direct mixing of feed water and steam while in closed feed water heaters are like counter flow heat exchanges. • Purpose of regeneration is to increase the average temperature at which heat is added. Since ideally the efficiency of engine depends upon high temperature and low temperature reservoirs. Regeneration increases the average temperature at which heat is added and reheating is meant to effectively utilize the energy of steam. Quest for the increase in efficiency forces us to find new ways.
