Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global health threat that is increasingly challenging our ability to treat infections and safeguard the health of populations worldwide. Drug-resistant infections claim hundreds of thousands of lives each year, and evidence strongly suggests that today’s inaction will not only exacerbate the death toll from untreatable infections but also threaten the future of modern medicine. The second high-level meeting on AMR at the United Nations General Assembly accords an opportunity to develop a clear roadmap for impactful and sustainable interventions to mitigate this threat. • To drive the conversation around AMR’s scope and burden and the urgent need for political will, feasible targets, accountability frameworks, and funding to address the problem, the One Health Trust, along with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations, Global AMR R D Hub, FIND, the AMR Action Fund, the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions, the Infectious Disease Society of America, and the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation will hold a side event on AMR on the eve of the UNGA High-Level Meeting week. • While the in-person event on September 22, 2024, in New York City, is invitation-only and has limited capacity, we want to ensure everyone interested in this important conversation can attend the event virtually. Join us for this unique, informative, and energizing discussion, featuring key voices from across the globe to shed light on the AMR crisis, propose evidence-based solutions, and unite in a call to action to ensure the sustainability of antibiotics and our collective health. • @CDC @AfricaCDC @ifpma @idsafoundation6064 @icars1481 @FINDdx @amractionfund286 @globalamrrdhub1420 @GatesFoundation
