Toledo Spain 7 Must See Sites Day trip from Madrid

Come with us as we explore the wonderful medieval city of Toledo, Spain! This was such an easy day trip from Madrid. Be sure to add it to your itinerary when you visit Spain. We took a 40 min. train ride from the Atocha station in Madrid, and had booked our tickets online the night before - so easy! • Toledo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with Jewish, Christian and Moorish history. Historical monuments, gorgeous squares, cobbled streets. You’ll be able to experience all this and more once you enter one of their medieval gates. • Did you know Toledo was once the Spanish capital? There is so much history and things to see here, but we have picked 7 sites that will take you around the city and allow you to take much of it in without it being overwhelming. Here are the 7 stops we recommend for the perfect day trip in Toledo: • 1. Puente de Alcántara - dates back to Roman times! • 3. Plaza Zocodover - get marzipan here! • 4. Alcazar de Toledo - was supposed to house the Spanish Royal family but by the time it was finished the court had moved to Madrid. • 5. Santa Iglesia Catedral Primada de Toledo • 6. Jewish Quarter • 7. Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes - Franciscan Monastery • 8. Sinagoga de Santa Maria La Blanca • Our biggest tip for the day: wear comfortable walking shoes. You’ll walk a lot, and get ready to go uphill. By the time we made it back to our hotel in Madrid we had walked a little over 9 miles (over 14 km), almost 23,000 steps, and 21 flights climbed! Phew!
