Hammerschlagen Stand Quick and Dirty

Hammerschlagen, or Stump some call it, is an awesome game gaining a lot of popularity in bars across the US and UK. The goal is simple enough: Taking turns one swing at a time, drive your nail all the way to the surface before everyone else. But there are all sorts of variations and ways to play and rules to follow and so on. Our favorite way is with a beer in one hand. • Here I take a power hand planer to the surface of a stump that's been left out in the rain a bit too long, and add legs to prop it up for more comfortable game play. But if you ask me, it probably would have been better if I just left it on the stool I was working on.
