DIY 3Bay Carport Build Part 3 Posts amp Beams

Welcome to Part 3 of our carport build series showing the post and beam installations. In this video I will cover the installation of 16 4x6 support posts and the 4x6 beams that will run across the tops of them to form a base for our rafters (covered in next video). Lots of tedious measuring and string line work in this step to make sure everything is in the right position. Other than that, just a good bit of post hole digging and concrete filling. • This will be a 3-bay 30'x24' post and beam carport with a single slope metal roof. The posts and beams will be 4x6 lumber, the rafters will be 2x6 lumber, and the purlins will be 1x3 lumber.
