Today we are harvesting hickory nuts. Collecting and processing shagbark hickory nuts is often overlooked in favor of pecans or walnuts but never the less this is a late summer and early fall tradition which provides a lot of high quality plant based protean but is often a forgotten resources over much of its range. Shagbark hickory nuts. Foraging for nuts can become addictive but is very rewarding.
