Trump will reportedly join Putin in Moscow on May 9th to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2. Typically the American President celebrates World War 2 anniversaries with the French, Canadian, and British Prime Ministers. Trump will likely join Putin for the Victory Day Parade as well. Typically Russian, North Korean, Serbian, and Chinese soldiers march in the victory day parade. It’s unknown if Trump will have American soldiers march alongside them, but such an image would be striking to Americans and the world alike. The United States has also reportedly signaled that it’s going to leave an international effort to prosecute Russia for invading Ukraine. Yesterday at CPAC - Elon Musk said “What are Ukrainians dying for? What exactly are they dying for?” This has drawn a lot of heated backlash with one person saying “It’s hard to imagine why somebody would die for a dream when you've lived that dream for so long that it's mundane to you.“ Others online have been quoting Ronald Reagan in response to Musk, saying: “If nothing in life is worth dying for, when did this begin - just in the face of this enemy? Or should Moses have told the children of Israel to live in slavery under the pharaohs? Should Christ have refused the cross? Should the patriots at Concord Bridge have thrown down their guns and refused to fire the shot heard 'round the world? The martyrs of history were not fools, and our honored dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of the Nazis didn't die in vain.” Germany is having discussions with Britain and France about extending their nuclear umbrella and potentially sharing their nuclear weapons with them. Germany’s likely next leader also said that he doesn’t believe Trump will fulfill Article 5 protections.
