How to BootStart Mac in Recovery Mode

You can use this mode to diagnose and fix issues, restore your mac from a time machine back up or even completely wipe your mac. And there are some occasions that you might need to boot Mac in Recovery Mode. So how to start your mac in recovery mode? • Firstly need to restart your Mac, this can be done from the main Apple menu, then click restart. When your mac is restarting, hold down Command and R when you hear the startup chime. Wait a few minutes and the OS X Utilities window will open. • When booting mac in standard recovery mode, it is booting using data stored locally on our own hard drive. But what if that part of our hard drive with the recovery options on had become corrupt? What do we do then? • Well, Apple has given us a handy option of Internet recovery mode, this means that instead of using the data on your hard drive. How to start up your mac in internet recovery mode? It will connect to Apple servers and download a fresh install file. Apple also performs a quick memory and hardware check too when booting in this mode. • • If your hard drive is corrupt and can’t be booted in standard recovery mode, your mac will default to Internet recovery mode. • You can also manually boot in Internet recovery mode, when restarting, again after the chime, press command, option, and R, instead of just command and R. • It seems kind of obvious, but we will say it anyway Internet recovery mode requires an Internet connection, if you’re not connected via Ethernet, then you will be prompted to connect to the Wifi. • If your mac is really old and is running OS 10:11 or older, then you may not have the recovery options we have just talked about. • Now if this is you, or if local or Internet recovery mode didn’t do the trick, then don’t worry, all is not lost.
