Each year during the month of February, the department of Haryana Tourism organizes a cultural fest, which is popularly known as #surajkundmela It is celebrated no less than any big festival in Haryana and the sole motive behind organizing this fair is to promote the traditional art and talent that exist in our country. People from different cities and countries come here to mark their presence and witness the richness of traditional Indian crafts present in this grand fest. • Beautifully decorated stalls belonging to different states showcase and present the specialty of the state they are respectively representing. Pieces of creative craft work made up of wood, bamboo, glass, metal, iron and textile can be seen displayed all around. • • The highlight of the #surajkundcraftmela is that one Indian state gets the special honour of being the Theme State of the year. This year, Uttar Pradesh has been chosen as a Theme State. The concept of the Theme State was brought upon with a view to promote and focus on the art, craft, culture, and cuisine of one state per year. This way, the Mela provides the Theme State a rare opportunity to showcase its handicrafts, handlooms, architecture, performing arts and cuisine. • • Other than the art and craft, there are a lot of cultural programs, open-air theatres and chaupals at the Mela which glorify the surroundings of the place. Various folk artists come from different parts to perform here. • Food is an important aspect of the Surajkund Crafts Mela. You can get cuisines from nearly all states of India and experience the joy of eating numerous Indian dishes. Fast food lovers will not be disappointed as some fast food stalls are also there. • • Moreover, the colorful ambiance and the immersive cultural ethos in the place will surely delight once you visit this vibrant festival.
