Matanuska Glacier (tour required) • This is one of the only glaciers near Anchorage that you can drive to. In order to hike the glacier, you’ll need a guide. • We went with @greatlandadventures . They were great! We had transportation to and from Anchorage (2 hours each way), they handled check in, provided crampons, and led the hike for about 2 hours, and lunch was included after (it was really good and there were vegan options!). Additionally, the guides were really knowledgeable about the glacier and Alaska in general, I really enjoyed the tour and would recommend it So wild to hike a glacier without venturing too far from a city!
