Note the bluish-green forehead, the long blue streak down the throat to the breast, and the dull yellow belly with green streaks. • Blue Cheeked Bee-Eater is a lime-green bee-eater with a thin black mask edged with aquamarine blue found in the West and North West of India. Bright yellow-and-red throat patch is small compared to many other bee-eaters. • Blue Tailed Bee-Eater is an elegant, and slender bird of open country found in the Indian Subcontinent. Adult is green overall, with blue tail, thin black mask, and rufous throat; bright rufous underwings visible in flight. • Blue Throated Bee-Eater is a bright green insect hunter with a long bill and triangular starling-like wings found in Kerala. Adult has a bright blue throat, orange-brown crown and nape, and long trailing central tail feathers. • Chestnut Headed Bee-Eater is a beautiful, dainty bee-eater with a bright reddish head and yellow throat found in the Indian Subcontinent. Their dark “necktie” is most noticeable when in flight overhead. • European Bee-Eater is spectacularly colorful, with yellow throat, blue-and-rusty body found in South, North and North West of India. They are found in open and semiopen country, mainly in drier areas; nests colonially in burrows dug into sand banks, often close to river banks. • Green Bee-Eater is a small dainty bee-eater that is intensely green overall with a greenish-blue throat, a thin black throat band, and long central tail feathers found in the Indian Subcontinent.
