Early fall is the time to plant winter annuals. This will help them get established before the winter cold sets in. University of Memphis Director of Landscape Joellen Dimond shows how to plant wave – or trailing – pansies and snapdragons. After removing the summer annuals, she fertilizes with a slow-release fertilizer. She lays out the pansies on the surface without planting to make sure she gets the right distribution. There are two different colors of pansy, and she is going for a random look. Then she plants the snapdragons between the pansies. While planting she also digs up daffodil bulbs and replants them. The wave pansies will flop over and spread and fill in the area between them. • • Here are videos of previous plantings in this bed: • Planting Scaevola, Pentas and Vinca (2021): • Planting Scaevola, Pentas and Vinca –... • Planting Pansies and Tulips for Winter and Spring Color (2020): • Planting Pansies and Tulips for Winte... • Planting Tropical Hibiscus and Begonias (2020): • Planting Tropical Hibiscus and Begoni... • Planting Daffodils, Dianthus, and Pansies (2019): • Planting Daffodils, Dianthus, and Pan... • Planting Sunpatiens, Joseph's Coat, and Colocasia (2019): • Planting Sunpatiens, Joseph's Coat, a... • Planting Fall Flowers (2018): • Planting Violas – Family Plot • Planting Summer Flowers (2018): • Planting Summer Flowers – Family Plot • Planting Dusty Miller and Pansies (2017): • Planting Dusty Miller and Pansies – F... • Planting Petunias, Vinca, and Salvia (2017): • Planting Petunias, Vinca, and Salvia ... • Planting Fall Flowers 2016: • Planting Fall Flowers - Family Plot • Planting Summer Flowers 2016: • Planting Summer Flowers – Family Plot • Subscribe now to Family Plot for more gardening videos like these! • / familyplot • For even more information, go to https://www.familyplotgarden.com
