The highlight is the 2020-introduced MIKA model, a new train inspired by the universal Flirt series, yet featuring interiors akin to Swiss Federal Railways' latest international express, the Giruno (SMILE). • Our journey transitions at the picturesque mountain interchange, Zweisimmen, where the MOB (Montreux-Oberland Bernois) Railway's mountain trains await us. But before embarking, we take a pause at Zweisimmen station, intrigued by something Luka insists on seeing, leading us to skip a connection. With BLS and MOB operating on different track gauges, direct train transfers aren't possible, posing a challenge for the renowned GoldenPass Line. • Enter 2022, a groundbreaking innovation emerges - the Gauge Change Train, capable of traversing both narrow and standard gauges, a rarity worldwide. Zweisimmen station now houses specialized rails for adjusting the train's wheel width. Though we eagerly anticipated this marvel, our timing was off; technical issues led to its suspension during our visit.
