Unlike neighboring Skiathos, which has its own airport, Skopelos does not. • You have to take the ferry to get here. • The ferry will bring you to one of three ports on the island, so choose the one closest to your hotel or destination. • For a complete guide, check out: • https://www.jaredsdetours.com/skopelo... • Skopelos looks like many of the Greek islands, with stone streets and whitewashed buildings. • Parts of the town are newer construction, possibly the result of a surge in “Mamma Mia” tourists. • Several parts of the movie were filmed here in 2007. • You can drive or hike to a number of beaches, like Stafilos, home of the original settlement on Skopelos. • It has a beach bar and lounge chairs, which get more crowded later in the day. • The hike through olive groves includes some of the small monasteries and chapels that dot the island. • A few miles down the coast is Amarantos Cove, a rocky spot used in the opening of the “Mamma Mia” movie. • • It’s a quick hike down the coast to Agnontas Beach, which is home to a row of coastal cafes and boat rental options. • You can ride over to the quieter side of the island, and the port of Loutraki. • It’s a steep, but worthwhile hike up old stone steps to the bigger town of Glossa, where you’ll find shops and restaurants which overlook the coastline. • From Glossa, you can hike or take a car to one of the island’s most famous sites: the church on the rocks used in more scenes in “Mamma Mia.” • From this side of the island, you’ll find smaller boats from the Loutraki port to take you back to Skiathos. • • • FOLLOW JARED: • Website: https://www.jaredsdetours.com • Instagram: / dillinjay
