A High Definition retrospective exhibition by the Victorian Pre-Raphaelite artist John William Waterhouse (6 April 1849 - 10 Feb 1917) begins by taking you on a short stroll through a virtual gallery walk and is then followed by a show of his paintings including the titles of his artworks. • Waterhouse was an English artist of classical, historical, and literary subjects. Early in his career he painted Greek and Roman subjects, but in the 1880s he turned to literary themes, painted in a distinctive, dreamily romantic style. In approach John William Waterhouse was influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, but his handling of paint is quite different from theirs - rich and sensuous.
