This video shows how to practice the skill of segmenting (separating) sounds to make a word! Right now we are focusing on CVC words (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant words), and we use these cards from amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Junior-Learnin...) during our Phonemic Awareness time in class, and in one of their Literacy Centers. • This is Part 1 which focuses on segmenting the sounds into letters to practice the skill of Writing. If your child struggles with writing the sounds they hear in cvc words, this is a great video for you! • Here is how I do it: • Segmenting sounds into letters for writing: • 1.) Show the picture card “What it is?” It’s a _______ • 2.) Segment (separate) the word into the 3 sounds. ____ ____ ____ • 3.) If you are at home, make a sound box to practice with • 4.) Think about the sounds that you hear and touch the squares • 5.) Think about what those letters are • 6.) Write the sounds you hear • 7.) Check to see if you are right! Not right? Where did you mess up? How can you remember it for next time? :) • Happy Learning! ~Miss Jenichen
