Great fun and a cool addition to the workshop and future woodworking projects. • Link here to Gearbest where I got mine from https://www.tiny.cc/8kptcz Extra Discount code at checkout GBC30ALFA • Facebook support group   / 389858871903308   • Clear a work area, clutter free, have a windows pc ready to connect. Tools you might find useful are allen keys, screwdriver, pliers and a few cable ties. • Put the memory card or usb stick in the computer, the instruction are also included on there and you may find it better than the paper version. • Follow the instructions and have at it, its going to take you a few hours depending on your skill level. A sheet of thick mdf makes a good level base for it to go on. I found some nice offcuts being dumped a while back which are ideal at around 500 x 600. • Gearbest Build    • Alfawise C30 2500mw Large Area Frame ...   • Zeplabs video    • Alfawise C30 Laser Engraver Review: D...   • Follow the instructions and crack on, connecting the frame using the 4 corner blocks using the screws and wing nuts, its a bit tricky, screw the wingnuts loosely on the screws and then slide on the rails, then tighten up the screws and the wingnuts should lock into place. • Build the 2 motor assembles for the gantry as mirror copies of each other and not identical. The mounting has 3 holes for the wheels and pulley wheel, look carefully at the spacers and nuts provided, 2 of the holes are slightly smaller than the 3rd which correspond to the specific nuts/spacers. • The laser only needs 3 screws to hold it in its assembly even though its got 4 holes, if you use the wrong hole the screw rubs against the metal frame. • The belts themselves are held down by flat metal tabs, slide these in smooth side down with the protrusion pointing upwards. • I suggest watching Ralphs video on belt tension, just a bit of movement    • Video   • Theres a black push/button on off on the circuit board to turn power onto the motors and laser unit. The rotary dial on top of the laser button is the on off dial, it doesnt seem to make a difference how much its turned on. • The cables are fairly straightforwards and the circuit board is marked for each motor, its not clear on the X axis which way round they are but that can be corrected using the software by reversing the axis. Once its all built, connected and tested you can use cable ties to stop them from snagging on the corners or similar. • The software is called Engraver Master, the website is here and theres some instruction on there worth reading. • http://www.bachinmaker.com/wiki/doku.... • Ive decided to persevere with this software for the time being, it works fairly well in some aspects but is unweildy in others. Printing grey scale pictures isnt great, and it doesnt allow you to upscaly the picture. There are many other software programs available, one ive been recommended a lot is LaserGRBL which is free. • Install the CH340 driver first, failing to install this will cause your laser engraver to function but all the settings will be all over the place. • When you boot up the (EM) software it gives me an error about a missing jpg which I ok, it then takes me to a blank screen with 4 tabs along the top left • I click on tab2 and then back to tab1, tab1 should now connect with your laser setup and recognize the COM and BAUD rate automatically, it then also automatically sets the steps on tab4. • If it hasnt recognised the engraver then check that the engraver is switched on, theres a on/o black button on the he circuit board of the engraver, also on top of he laser theres a on off rotary switch, • On tab 4 i set it to 2500mww laser and on the slider set the power of the laser to 65% because im using white soft pallet wood. I set weak laser to 8 or 9. • At this point your laser should be operational so you can know focus the laser using the focal lens at the bottom of the laser, use the safety glasses and screw left or right until its a fine point. • So tab1 is for picture printing only, using the dot method. It will do a photograph quite well but you cant adjust the size which is highly limiting and quite. On this screen i turn 'weak laser' to on and make adjustments pressing the x,y to where i want it to start on the wood. • Tab2 Nc sender is what im using mostly, i load a picture, enter the value in mm of how big it needs to be, then what the clarity is like and then it goes into the preview screen. Ive set my speed to 350. i do a test square to make sure the wood is lined up right and then hit the start button. • The bigger you go the longer it takes so your leaving your computer to sit on its own, one clock face took 4 hours. On your computer, turn OFF the hibernation mode so it doesnt go to sleep or put the hard drive to sleep in the middle of a burn. Its in control panel under power settings.
