One pot sambar rice recipe • If you crave for something hot and comforting, and have no time in hand, make this one pot sambar rice. It tastes more or less like sambar chawal and does not require a lot of work. • Let’s see the recipe. • Ingredients • 1/2 cup rice • 1/2 cup Arhar dal, washed and soaked for 1 hour • 2 tsp oil • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds • 1/4 tsp hing • 2 dry chillies • 6-7 black peppercorns • 10-12 curry leaves • 2 dry red chillies • 3-4 garlic cloves • 2 green chillies • 1 onion, diced or 4 shallots • 1 tomato, diced • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder • 1 tsp sambar powder • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder • 1 tsp tamarind pulp • 4 cups water • Salt to taste • Fresh coriander leaves • Ghee to pour over • Method • 1. Wash and soak rice and dal for 1 hour • 2. In a pressure cooker, add oil, hing, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, black peppercorns • 3. Once they splutter, add garlics, green chillies, red chillies, fresh curry leaves and onion, • 4. Add tomatoes, and salt and once they get soft add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, sambar powder • 5. Also add rice, dal and water, tamarind pulp, mix and pressure cook upto 4 whistles • 6.
