Balsa Glider Launcher Calculating Glide Ratio

I built the Glider Launcher 1000 to see if I can calculate my glider's glide ratio! I was very surprised with the results! • Build Kits and Plans are available! • https://nighthawkgliders.com/store • My calculated results were posted in the FliteTest Forum: • http://forum.flitetest.com/showthread...) • I have to be honest, I didn't expect my DIY project to work so well... Sure, it needs some improvements, but those will come someday with Glider Launcher 2000! • After launching the balsa glider a good number of times, I was able to record some measurements to get a decent calculation of how far the glider is dropping over a given distance. This requires launching the glider at a constant speed (it's gliding speed) and being very, very consistent on every launch. • The glider used in this video is: • SP12-11-160824 4.60 • Type: 12 Sandpiper • Weight: 4.6 grams • Brad and Bruce are brothers-- just having some fun building, sharing, and inventing things that actually work (sometimes). • Music: • Valerie Plain by Rhondo Brothers • Enjoy flight and enjoy life! • #NighthawkGliders • #Sandpiper • #CatapultGliders
