Filmed September 21, 2016 • MNTX SD9 #6234 was built in April of 1959 by EMD. It was originally built for the Colorado Southern (C S), a subsidiary of the Chicago, Burlington Quincy (CB Q). It was numbered #839, and painted in CB Q's Burlington Route Red scheme. • It was repainted into the Burlington Northern Scheme in 1971, but retained it's number and C S lettering until 1980, when the C S became officially part of the Burlington Northern. The C S #839 became the BN #6234, and later BNSF #6234 (still in BN paint) • It was donated to the Minnesota Transportation Museum in 2003, and was given a fresh repaint in 2007. • It operates May-October on the Osceola St. Croix Valley Railway.
