NY Law School Professor Robert Blecker interviewed by Armen Keteyian on Episode 9/Season 3, out this week. Professor Blecker, a former Special Prosecutor and expert on Crime Punishment, had recently given a lecture at the International Assoc. for the Philosophy of Sport (IAPS) Conference titled Cheating- Playing with the Rules . • His conclusions on the Deflategate issue are interesting- especially in light of the fact that he comments numerous times about his dislike of the Patriots- when asked at the outset if he was a Patriots fan, he answered: I don't like them, I won't be rooting for them to succeed this year... • And later: When I first read the Wells Report- I thought they cheated- and truthfully- I sort of hoped they did- because I don't like the Patriots, I still don't... • So this is not just another 'Patriots Nation Crazy' that drank from the cup - in fact, far from it! His educated opinion, based on hundreds of hours researching all of the facts and documents of the case- on what did, didn't or might have happened- is LONG overdue- and should be REQUIRED reading/watching by EVERYONE out there- all the talking heads who profess to know so much about the issue. • Howie Long said it best on The Herd- (paraphrased)- you can't disparage a man, his reputation, his legacy- based on a 'better chance than not', conjecture, organization's previous transgressions, etc. If you don't have concrete facts and proof- you don't know, and you don't have grounds to trash him and his character. • Professor Blecker, an actual authority on the subject, is not only independent (a word the NFL needs a little schooling on)- but by his own admission, surely has no allegiance to the Pats, and in fact at first look, initially found one report (Wells) seemed to implicate Brady Patriots. But as he continued to research and gather of ALL the FACTS of the case- he realized that there was no denying the facts - they were there all along- and he gives a lesson on many of those facts . His final conclusion is a very black white- FACT-BASED conclusion: based on ALL of these facts- THEY prove ________. It is not based on conjecture or personal opinion- just fact based conclusions. • It seems others- reporters, ESPN, current and ex-athletes like Boomer- have conveniently ignored, chosen to leave out, or MOST likely- never even bothered to take the time to even look at or read in the first place- as far as most of the documents/facts (not to mention the false information released by the NFL ESPN). That doesn't make good TV, radio, headlines- and doesn't bring in the viewers, etc. Deflategate has been a windfall for all of them for 8 months...don't imagine it will stop now- and if they didn't take time to find the truth then- the assumption is, they won't now either. That would be the Right Thing to do, which, as ESPN the NFL have shown, they have absolutely no interest in doing.
