Young overhead athletes and athletes with rotator cuff tears. • • Anatomy: Arises from brachial plexus upper trunk. • Motor iinervation to the Supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles. • Sensory iinervation to the: Acromioclavicular and glenohumeral joints. • Two areas of compression: • Entrapment at Suprascapular Notch • Supraspinatus and infraspinatus denervation. • Loss of abduction and external rotation strength due to supraspinatus involvement. • Entrapment at Spinoglenoid • Isolated involvement of infraspinatus. • • Symptoms: Poorly localized pain and discomfort in posterior, superior and/or lateral shoulder or upper back. Deep, dull chronic pain.
