I love these classic German zimtsterne or cinnamon stars so much that I make them all year round because they're just so tasty. And don't worry about them being difficult either - the basic biscuit mix has just a handful of ingredients. Ok, ok, icing these delightful little cookies can be a little tricky and time consuming. But just give them to your kids to do - or someone else's kids. Or get your annoying relatives to do them for you while you watch the telly. It might stop you all from being at each others throats all Christmas. • Zimtsterne/Cinnamon stars Christmas cookies full recipe: • 160g icing sugar • 2 egg whites (around 60g) • A quarter of a teaspoon of cream of tartar (optional) • 240g of ground almonds • 2 heaped teaspoons of cinnamon • Between a pinch and a quarter of a teaspoon of salt • Optional extras include a teaspoon of orange zest, a tablespoon of liquor or other Christmassy alcohol of your choice. Maple or almond extract etc. etc. You get the idea. • Bake in a preheated oven at 135 degrees C fan setting for around 16 minutes. • Merry Christmas everyone. • #theteessidechef #christmas2023
