While you can't change the username (which is always Admin), you can change the password. Changing the password on a regular basis is important to help keep people from hacking into your network, and it should be the first thing you do if you feel like someone else has already hacked into your Netgear wireless router. You can change the password for your device using the Netgear Genie website. • And now, let's walk through the steps to change your Netgear wireless router password. • Step 1. Open your Web browser and navigate to www.routerlogin.com. An Authentication Required window appears instantly. • Step 2. Enter the username and password associated with your Netgear router, and then click Login. You'll arrive at the Netgear Genie page. • Step 3. Click to select the Advanced tab in the upper left corner of the page. The on-screen options will change to be associated with the Advanced layout. • Step 4. Click the Administration option in the menu along the left side of the screen. A sub-menu appears beneath Administration. • Step 5. Tap Set Password in the list of options beneath Administration. The Set Password window appears on the right side of the screen. • Step 6. Enter your existing password in the field associated with Old Password, and then enter your new password in the Set Password and Repeat New Password fields. A Log in to Routerlogin.com dialog box appears. • Step 7. Enter your Netgear router username and new password, and then click Log In. You'll land back on the Netgear Genie page.
