When preparing a strawberry for eating, you'll want to remove the leaves and the white part (called the hull or calyx) at the top of the berry. • You could just chop it off with a knife, but that would waste perfectly good fruit at the top of the berry. The other option is to dig it out with a paring knife, but that gets tedious if you're preparing a lot of strawberries, and also risks injury if you're not so steady with a knife. • Instead, try this clever trick. Simply insert a drinking straw into the end of the strawberry and push it all the way through. When you pull the straw out, the hull and leaves will come straight out! • You can then use the strawberries in a fruit salad, a smoothie, a dessert or any other way you like to eat them, without having to deal with any tough bits! • Subscribe to our channel for more clever tips and project, and visit www.handyman.net.au for more great DIY ideas. • Music by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) • Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b...
