Carp, unlike many species, have the ability to change the lakebed as they dig for food and minerals. The evidence of their work can clearly be seen once the water is removed, if only partially, from a lake. In this video I’m going to show you, in detail, their world and how they live and feed. • Beausoleil is a tree lined estate lake that was dug in the 1950’s along the line of an ancient stream. It’s feature rich, complicated and changes every year. We perform a biannual drain down to better manage the fish stock and remove snags, and it’s during this process that we get to take a peek under the hood. • Join me on a tour on the lake bottom as I highlight some of the features that are typical to this venue. Along the way I explain why the lake is how it is, how the carp have influenced its contours and what you need to look for when tackling a venue of this type.
