As I promised, an update about Mia, showing you Panda+ talking about Broken Whiskers in #kittens.. • So Whiskers (vibrissae),are mammalian hairs , that are typically characterized, anatomically, by their large size.. • They specialize in tactile (TOUCH) sensing (just like the skin they are full of nerves).. • you can find them over the upper lips and eyes.. • #Cats usually use their whiskers to evaluate if they can fit into a small/tight openings how far they are from an object, or to prevent them bumping into it in the darkness.. • Due to the high amounts of sensor nerves in the Whiskers, cats can feel the change of weather too.. cool right? • Whiskers are made of keratin, the same compound that makes our hairs.. but remember.. WHISKERS ARE NOT HAIRS! • That's why when the cat is malnourished for a period of time, their whiskers might break.. • Other reason is while cats play roughly or fight, their whiskers might brake too, due to injury or the other cat biting them.. • So, the next time you see broken whiskers, don't panic..
