Markus Klek • In the beginning of March 2024 we heard a knock on the door, and outside stood a man on snowshoes dressed in hides. He had heard that we had open our cabin for people skiing ”Vita Bandet” from Grövelsjön to Treriksröset and wondered if he could do the same. That is how we came to welcome Markus Klek in to our cabin, a man learning by doing for his big interest of the Stone Age. This time by hiking from Vålådalen to Grövelsjön, a stretch of approximate 170 kilometers, with clothes and equipment produced by himself only by tools and material used by people from the Stone Age. Markus gives lectures and work shops on the subject, including how to prepare hides which is important for making clothes to survive as a Stone Age man. You can live like a Stone Age person together with Markus during weeks in different areas, latest in northern Spain, you can buy any of his books or take part of his lectures to learn more about what it entangles to live in the Stone Age. His trip in winter in the Swedish mountains dressed only in hides and walking on snowshoes was to see if his theories about how Stone Age people survived in the cold was working in reality.
