Sadhguru: In 2009, when we were in Konya, Turkey, we went to Rumi’s mausoleum. While walking around, I saw a large linga lying there in the garden. Because of some cracks, there were some disturbances, but it was still alive. • When I inquired, they said that it was almost 4,700 years old. 4,700 years ago there was a full-fledged temple with a five-foot tall linga! • I used a rudraksh and showed a few people who were with me, how at different places the linga behaves differently. Every point in the linga was different. Whoever worked on it knew what they were doing. It was not a rudimentary job, it was very subtle work. • Much of Europe had similar temples and consecrated spaces, but when “my way or no way” attitude came, these temples were razed to the ground. Today, only a few remain, primarily in India and some Southeast Asian countries. • These temples were never built as places of prayer. The idea was people will go and sit there and benefit.
