Anneliese Michel is a controversial case, as well as the subject of many fictional accounts of her tragic story. • Most notably the 2005 courtroom drama The Exorcism of Emily Rose is widely popular, of which story is based on Anneliese's life. • Sixteen year-old Anneliese Michel had a history of epilepsy and mental illness, for which she had often been treated at a psychiatric hospital. • However, in 1973 Michel become suicidal, spurned all religious things, drank her own urine, and began to hear demonic voices. • Despite taking various antipsychotic medications, day by day, Anneliese’s symptoms worsened. • She was saying that she could see demons by making some deep growls and throwing things. • Her family called local priests who believed Anneliese was possessed by evil demons. • Therefore, they decided to exorcise her under secrecy. • Anneliese had almost 67 exorcisms performed on her over the course of ten months. • In the end, she had to die on July 1, 1976, at only 23 years of age due to starvation. • The case has been recognized as an example of a misidentified mental illness, negligence, abuse and religious hysteria. • When performing the exorcisms the priests allowed some of the exorcism sessions to be recorded in audio recorder. • Now, some of the audio recordings will play in this video. • Read Full Article: https://mysteriesrunsolved.com/2020/0...
