How to make a Custom Height Gauge . I show a custom height gauge tool I made from a Starrett Height Gauge / Transfer Gauge, vernier type. This type of Starrett height gauge is going by the wayside but is fine for the accuracy I am after +/- 0.001 inches. You can find these pretty cheap on e-bay. This is a custom Starrett height measurement tool. • So I was able to save one from the scrap pile by re-purposing the fine tool. • The tool will give me a direct reading of the amount I need to mill on a Dovetail cutter.
