This video also encompassed my largest research project to date as I have roughly 20 different sources to cross check and use. I also included some of my own research such as with the case study on US vs Soviet acerage, and with the proportion of kulaks in early collectivization. • The video is divided into four main parts mainly covering the 1920's and the new economic policy, the 1930's and the first five-year plan, the great famine of 1933 and the holodomor, and finally the post world war 2 period of the Soviet Union. Due to the almost apocalyptic and economically genocidal character of the famines of 1933 and 1946 I made these a focal point of my video. Thus a large portion of the video focuses specifically on these topics. • However, more than introducing a laymans guide to collectivization this video is meant as a more specific study with a lot of economic data. Thus I recommend the layman watch other introductory videos on the topic befor delving into this; unless you feel comfortable. • Finally, most economic data availability is found in the 1950's to the 1970's so this was able to give a clearer picture on private farming efficiencies, whilst the earlier (before 1950's) periods could give a glimpse on public farming inefficiencies. I have included everything from the structures of state farms (Sovkhoz) to collective farms (kolkhoz). I also gave an introduction to the mixed economy of the 1920's and an indepth analysis of grain quotas and machine and tractor stations. • I tried very hard not to politicize this video however the evidence is quite obvious that the Stalinist regime made numerous miscalculations that warranted suspicion. I was a lot easier on the Khrushchev and Brezhnev regimes because they at least attempted to solve the problem, even though they to failed because of mismanagement. I hope you all can take from this video a peer reviewed knowledge of Soviet collectivization of agriculture. Enjoy the video. • [Sections] • 0:00 Introduction • 1:13 - The 1920's and the New Economic Policy • 2:54 - The 1930's and the First Five-Year Plan • 6:08 - The Great Famine of 1933 • 8:44 - Post-War Period and Beyond • 10:57 - A Case Study • 11:45 - Conclusion • [Sources] • http://reindeerherding.org/tag/yakutsk/ • https://web.archive.org/web/201305160... • http://facts.net/usa/ • https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/... • https://www.britannica.com/place/Sovi... • https://www2.census.gov/prod2/statcom... • http://50.economicus.ru/index.php?ch=... • Behind the Front Lines of the Civil War by Vladimir Brovkin • Captives of Revolution by Scott Smith • A History of the Soviet Union from the beginning to the end by Peter Kenez • The Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union 1917-1991 by Richard Sakwa • Russia and the Russians by Geoffrey Hosking • Red Nations by Jeremy Smith • Soviet Women by Francine du Plessix Gray • Russia A History by Gregory Freeze • [Music] • Folk Round by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...) • Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-... • Artist: http://incompetech.com/ • Gymnopedie No 1 by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...) • Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-... • Artist: http://incompetech.com/ • [PATREON] • / blitzofthereich • [Paypal] • https://www.paypal.me/blitzofthereich • [Amazon] • https://www.amazon.com/shop/blitzofth... • [Discord] • / discord
