Senjin Aleste features a new gameplay system compared to previous titles, with the player having access to four different ships and being able to swap between them during gameplay, with each ship having its own unique weapons. Lives are tied to the ships, with each ship counting as one life, the game ending when all four ships are lost. Downed ships are revived over time, however, indicated by four meters at the bottom corresponding to each ship. • However similar to the original game, Senjin Aleste makes also use of both a weapon power-up system and changeable special weapon system, both making use of item pickups. • The pilots 4 pilots in the game are: • Yuri Kunugi is the only pilot in the team with training experience by a regular instructor. She is a hard worker, despite her frail appearance, acting as the team's leader. She pilots the FX-02 Muramasa. • She is voiced by Mami Fujita. • Ratna Francis holds the highest score ever in the training simulators, despite her childish behavior. She loves playing videogames, with her favorite genre being beat 'em ups. She pilots the YF-X12 Bothrops. • She is voiced by Honoka Inoue. • Tanya Yaezakura is a genius girl who was involved in creating the base personality of the WISE series an a AI research officer. She's a half Russian/Japanese and holds great admiration for all Japanese things. She pilots the SUS-07 Metal. • She is voiced by Shiori Izawa. • Huang Kexin is an exceptional pilot from the development department who loves food as much as her friends. She is very cheerful and is often seen eating.
